Now that some parts are available the old Corsair SPEC-01 box has been assembled with the MSI X470 Gaming Plus motherboard. The Corsair RM650 has adequate resources for a video card if desired.
The Corsair SPEC-01 is an affordable mid-tower ATX chassis. It comes with just one fan to reduce costs but the air flow is adequate with integrated graphics. An additional 120mm fan is easily installed in the rear fan bay and the top can also have a 120mm fan installed. The OEM front 120mm fan cools the disk cage but it is possible to install a pair of 140mm fans but most motherboards do not have enough headers.
Red LED 120mm fans with 3-pin connectors are readily available to maintain the color of the chassis and MSI X470 Gaming Plus motherboard. Red LED 140mm fans with 3-pin connectors are also widely available.
The SPEC-01 has room for a couple of DVD drives and there is room for 4 hard disks, which makes it excellent for a media box. There is a pair of front USB ports for media playback etc. BCC 1.2 means USB ports are fast charging for mobile devices.
The AMD Ryzen 5 2400G has integrated graphics but it is not known if the Vega graphics can achieve 3840×2160. Several graphics cards are available in the event that the integrated graphics is inadequate.
The MSI-X470 has a pair of M.2 slots for SSD installation. The machine supports 4 lanes of PCIe while some of the low cost Chinese brands are less demanding as they are designed for Athlon users. The Lenovo X230 has a Kingston mSATA SSD installed and it loads Windows very quickly. This suggests that the low cost SSD will be in the same realm for performance.
The machine will eventually be used as a test box for Radeon cards.
